Aigues Mortes was a glorious past during the reign of Louis IX dit Saint-Louis.
But before him, the Merovingians occupied space. Under the reign of Saint Louis, Aigues Mortes became a thriving port. And this is where the king went to the Crusades in the Holy Land. Today we visit the Tower of Constance and the walls of the city which is a true masterpiece of medieval military architecture.
